Mindfulness and Relaxation

Mindfulness and Relaxation

Feeling out of control? Stressed? Overwhelmed? Irritable? Tense? Do you experince headaches? Sleepless nights? Difficulties focusing? Mindfulness and Relaxation is for you!

Mindfulness is a state of active, non-judgmental awareness of the present moment. It involves intentionally focusing one's attention on the present experience including thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and the surrounding environment. Mindfulness encourages an attitude of acceptance and non-reactivity, allowing individuals to observe their experiences without judgment or attachment. Relaxation can often be the result.

Relaxation refers to a state of physical and mental ease, free from tension and stress. It involves consciously inducing a state of calmness and reducing physiological and psychological arousal (we can show you how!). Relaxation techniques that can help promote relaxation responses in the body include deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, guided imagery, meditation, and engaging in enjoyable relaxing activities.

Mindfulness and relaxation techniques often complement each other. Mindfulness helps individuals become aware of their internal experiences in the present moment, while relaxation techniques provide tools for reducing stress, promoting relaxation, and achieving a sense of calm. Together they can contribute to overall well-being and improve coping skills in various situations.
